The Best Funeral Planning Checklist For Traditional Burials
May 1, 2023BOISE, Idaho — Gather, a funeral home software company dedicated to helping funeral directors and families, is excited to welcome Nancy Jenner, LFD to the team as our newest account executive.
“Our team wanted to dedicate more time to learning what funeral directors truly need to make life easier both for their staff and the families they serve,” says Zach Chatterton, CEO of Gather. “We believe that Nancy is going to be incredibly helpful with sharing her expertise and perspective in the profession so we can be better at what we do.”
Nancy’s Story
With 15+ years of industry experience, Nancy, a licensed funeral director and funeral home technologist, is excited to bring her network and expertise to Gather.
She still helps at her local funeral home in Phoenix, Arizona. Before starting her new chapter at Gather, she worked in funeral home technology. After completing mortuary school, Nancy acquired a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration as well as an M.A. in Adult Education and Training. One day Nancy plans to teach mortuary science.

With a passion for serving families during their time of need, Nancy understands the importance of helping colleagues with the most state-of-the-art technology, so they too can facilitate an unmatched experience for the families they serve. This level of dedication is what brings her to Gather.
Question 1: After diving into Gather, what is your favorite feature that you think both funeral directors and families will love?
- Nancy: It is hard to choose one thing because Gather has so many features that speak directly to the needs of the changing funeral consumer. I am very impressed with how Gather invites the family to be a part of the planning process with a personalized view just for the family and customized task lists to assist the family during and after funeral services.
Question 2: What advice do you have for funeral home businesses that are scared of trying or adopting new technology?
- Nancy: Change is always hard. Once we accept there may be an easier or more efficient way to manage the funeral home and stay connected with families we can then have the confidence to explore tech options. Families are using technology in their daily lives and are no longer surprised or put off to see it used in the funeral home. Contrary to the notion that technology is somehow impersonal for the family experience, it is now an expectation. Gather has an exceptional standard for Customer Success and supports funeral home staff in adopting and learning how to use their new tech tools. Funeral homes can count on the Gather team to guide them through this transition. After all, “Gather Loves Funeral Directors”!
Question 3: What is your favorite part about being a funeral director?
- Nancy: Being a funeral director is rewarding because I can connect with my community in a very personal way. I am honored to be entrusted with a family’s loved one and know that I help them with the difficult process of saying goodbye.
Question 4: When you aren’t in work mode, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
- Nancy: When I’m not busy, you’ll find me spending time with my daughter and beloved Boxer-Pit (objectively the most charming, personable dog you’ll ever meet). I’m loyal to supporting, shopping, and dining locally, and I always have a Phoenix favorite spot to recommend.
