Zach is passionate about helping people. He has spent the last 10 years working tirelessly to help funeral directors and the families they serve. The idea of Gather came to him from the personal loss of his father, and the experience his mother went through during that difficult time. Luckily there was a kind and caring funeral director to help his mom and now Gather exists to help every funeral director across the world to better help more people like Zach’s mom. During his free time, he loves to hang out with his wife and children and do anything outdoors together. He also enjoys reading and learning.

Paul has extensive background in development, CTO, and CEO roles, and has previously worked with other local tech companies for the last 10+ years. He joined Gather to work on a mission that truly makes a difference in people’s lives through a difficult time and to help make funeral directors’ jobs easier. Besides using his technology superpowers for good, he loves spending time with family, motorcycling, hunting, backpacking, and any other outdoor adventures in beautiful Idaho.

Ben joined Pelion’s investing team in 2015 and has been an integral part of both the culture and investing success. He has sourced, led, or co-led 16 investments since becoming an intern in the spring of 2014, including Owlet, Deserve, Omadi, Neighbor, and of course Gather. He currently sits on six company boards. Ben spends his time and efforts investing in Fintech, Marketplaces, Frontier Tech, and AI/ML, choosing to invest in special entrepreneurs that have disruptive businesses in large and underserved markets.
Before Pelion, Ben worked for Jefferies Financial Group, Inc. (J.F.G.) in their strategy and operations group where he invested in and managed four operating companies (with over $10B in annual revenue), including their largest investment of $868M into National Beef Packing (N.B.P.) in 2011. Since the investment, N.B.P. has returned over $1.6B. Prior to J.F.G., Ben worked at Sears Holdings Co. on the Corporate Strategy and Analytics team where he analyzed potential capital investments using statistical, financial and data frameworks. Ben holds a B.A. in Economics and M.B.A. from Brigham Young University.

Amanda has spent the last several years working in customer service and it is no wonder that when she came across Gather, she had to join the team to help funeral homes succeed and help their families as well. She’s thrilled to be working in this industry and helping Funeral Directors with everything from app questions, to troubleshooting LiveStreams on the weekend. Outside of work Amanda enjoys baking, cross-stitching, reading books, running, and being outside.

Chase has a depth of experience in various realms of digital marketing and business coaching across a range of industries, including his most recent experience at one of the top digital marketing agencies in Idaho. Chase knew he had to join Gather because it's a very cool opportunity to ultimately help provide better experiences for families during the most intimate and sometimes difficult life moments they will ever go through. When he isn't working on marketing projects, I enjoy building Spotify playlists, going on hikes with my Mini American Eskimo, playing sports (basketball, golf, cornhole), and spending an absurd amount of money on good food.
David Cowles, CPA
David comes to Gather with a variety of expertise working with companies big and small, helping them with accounting, auditing, and financial controller services. He has 5+ years of Big 4 accounting experience around the states with an active CPA license in Idaho. His accounting knowledge combined with his 19+ years’ experience in the restaurant and bartending industry, makes him an invaluable asset to the team. He is skillful in human connections and numbers and Gather wouldn’t be the same without him. When he is not focusing on the financials, payroll, HR duties, or general help around the office, you will usually find him building custom cars, settling into his new house, and spending time with family and friends.

Emma joins Gather from the funeral industry, where she is a licensed Mortician. Her reason for joining Gather is simple, this is an app that she would have 100% used and benefited from as a funeral director. She knows that being a mortician is not easy, and they are a group of incredibly dedicated people that often get forgotten, so to give a gift back to directors and to help make their lives easier means so much. Emma’s passions outside of work are being outside as much as she can with her dog, Friday. They love to go paddleboarding, hiking, and roller-blading mostly! She also loves spending time with her family and has an extra special place in her heart for board games and graphic novels.

James joined the Software Development team at Gather with a wealth of knowledge in the industry. In the most recent years his experience comes from companies with the best of both worlds - Balihoo (a local tech start up at the time) and Cybersecurity for the State of Idaho (government/corporate). This helps him fit perfectly into the team, being able to work creatively and efficiently! He loved the pace of work, and the challenges and growth that came with being in the startup world, and he’s so excited to be able to apply those skills with Gather now. Some of his personal passions that drive him outside of work are God, family, camping, riding ATVs/motorcycles, and amateur radio.

Josh started his career as a Software Engineer in the corporate world, and after 7 years switched to helping smaller local businesses develop and thrive. His passion for creating software that people love and enjoy, and the passion for free snacks, made it a no brainer that he chose to make a difference in people’s lives at Gather. When he’s not busy simplifying complex processes into easy-to-use systems, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys going to the park, church, and hiking. He also loves playing golf, basketball, board/card games, and watching college basketball and football. Go Cougs!
Kara has been Gather’s Legal Counsel from the very start of the company and has practiced law her entire career since school. We are so grateful to have her with us to keep our company, funeral homes, and families protected and compliant. She has loved seeing Gather come to life over the years, from an idea to the company that it is today. Kara is passionate about helping people who are going through their worst moments and loves watching Gather fulfill this mission.
